WHAT I DO: Let me cook for you! I’m a graduate of The Natural Gourmet Institute in Manhattan; specializing in vegetarian and vegan cuisine using organic, fresh ingredients. I will host dinner parties, cooking parties and other special cooking events at your house. I can bring live music to your dinner if you wish. I am also available as a consultant to create menus, special meals, and diets, or to help you get started in cooking at home if you don’t cook yet–or much. We can discuss how to stock your kitchen and choose a few wonderful but simple menus to start you off.
ABOUT ME: After graduating from cooking school I have hosted dinner/music events at my house, serving four-course vegetarian meals for 12-15 people and inviting musicians including viola and cello playing Bach, bluegrass musicians singing their own songs, and a singer/songwriter playing keyboard. Each evening has been unique and intimate. Menus are diverse both in terms of tastes and cultures.
I’ve been a Park Slope resident for twelve years, am a parent of two young adults, a member of the group Parents Who Dance, and a member of The Vajradhara Meditation Center in Prospect Heights. My activities and careers have included: dancing and choreographing, living in a commune, working in publishing, working in a bookstore and a book warehouse, homeschooling, real estate, and most recently studying Buddhism, and cooking.
I have always had an interest maintaining good health with wonderful food and using food not only as something delicious and celebratory–but as a great resource to be carefully selected and applied when needed, as medicine–the best kind of medicine–that tastes great and is good for you. I also love to make basic ingredients from scratch. I have done simple pickling, home-made breads, pastas and pizzas, ghee, kimchee, seitan and tofu.
